Why Burning Man? To experiment with who I am; to paradoxically have the freedom to "be my true self" and "not be myself" at the same time; to meet interesting, open-minded people and have conversations about more complex topics than the Dallas Cowboys; to grow, learn, expand my experiences; to camp under adverse conditions (a favorite activity).

Volunteer on the Playa? This being my first year, I want to keep my options open and learn. Definitely in future years.

PolyParadise Favorite Moments:  As I was looking through descriptions of the various camps, trying to pick one that would shape my first year's experience, I came across Poly Paradise. There was a moment of epiphany when I realized that it was the only place for me at Burning Man.

Toughest Thing: Starting a conversation with my wife about going to Burning Man by myself, and the later conversation that I'd like to camp with a group of people who believe in multiple, open relationships, but don't worry. She had no anxiety about it.

Best Thing: Right now, the planning and anticipation.

In the other world: I work with lawyers in a tall office building in downtown Dallas (not a lawyer myself), live in a nice neighborhood with my wife and 3 kids under 8 years old, and do all the usual dad/husband activities. Now it's time for something unusual.
