Burning Man Before? Yes - '06, '07—Both years with PolyParadise

Why Burning Man? I finally feel as though I've found a place I almost fit! My mundane friends think I'm adventurous, creative, and wild while my Burner friends think I'm quite mundane! ;-) I love the energy and sense of community. I came away from Burning Man my first year with such a wonderful sense of myself and my place in the world. I finally felt something more than just being a mom or wife/girlfriend. I discovered there was something bigger than my own little world I had constructed and most of what I believed in was really very petty and narrow and wasteful. Every year it gets better! I've made some wonderful friends.

My Life: Mom and mosaic artist. My life is constantly evolving. I enjoy sewing, cooking, good vodka, travel, and especially reading! I love my kids, clay, and a good road trip! I don't care for heavy, serious topics—had enough of that and life is way too short for it! I want to laugh, love, care, live, and let live. What more is there than that?

Volunteer on the Playa? I was Co-Kitchen God/Goddess with Hypno last year! Try to help out where needed. I volunteer more at regional events.

Burning Man Advice: As Diana says: Moisturize!! You'll need a good lip balm as well; and lotsa water and sunscreen! Be sure to eat at least twice a day and get out there and explore! Don't worry so much about costume. Be comfortable. I sew and sew all year and end up wearing my Goodwill broomstick skirts and spaghetti strap tops and fit in just fine! Also, leave your shyness behind—everyone there is so accepting and just as weird/socially awkward/strange as you!
