PolyParadise Scotto Speak - 2006

WOW!!! What a year for PolyParadise!!!  There is NO DOUBT  this was the BEST year yet for our Camp. With 74 campers total and of that total 55 PolyParadise NEWBIES!!! I thank all of the veteran Polycampers for returning to the family and being part of what we could only have dreamt of doing, Creating that family feeling, a safe-place to call home on the Playa.  I hope that each and everyone of you will be back next year, cause '07 is going to be even better!!

2006 marked the 5th year I have been Camp Daddy and I must say it was the MOST FUN YET!!!! 
I LOVE THIS STUFF & cannot get enough!!!  It was the MOST FUN YET because I have a Partner that loves this stuff just about as much as I do!!!  Thank you WildChild for all your support, love and of course patience with the never ending work that is our Burning Man.  I hope that some of that love shined thru with the Hand fasting ceremony.  Hang on dear cause the ride has just begun!!!

This year's Post-Playa wrap-up had me thinking about what are now PolyParadise Do's & Don'ts.  Being left with coolers full of food that I did not bring, vegetables, large cans of beans and pots so dirty that I just threw them away.  These do's & don'ts are not meant to be directed at anyone in particular, they are a product of spending 13 days On-Playa and being available to 74 campers the entire week.

PolyParadise Do’s and Don’ts

  • If you put up lights only twirl them 3 times per 10 feet of EMT conduit. It makes it easier for take down day.

  • Don’t wrap lights around ball bungies connected to the shade structure.

  • Please do not bring Garbanzo beans in large cans unless you plan to make a meal from them.

  • If you bring food you must have a plan for it cook it share it eat it, please do not bring the food and assume others will cook it or with it.

  • No Big squashes unless you are going to prepare them

  • All food must be recognizable

  • Special food needs must be taken care of by you.

  • You make it you clean up afterwards

  • No colored liquids will be left in the kitchen or community space without proper labeling.

  • If you make something in a big pot you are responsible for cleaning that pot

  • Please NO chairs with attached footrest in the community space

  • Once you pay there are NO refunds

  • Other than international campers, because pay pal doesn’t always work for them, all payments must be made pre playa to camp with poly paradise

  • All payments are due by 8/10 if you are not paid you are not camping with us

  • Community participation is highly recommended the payment is the cost to get the infrastructure to the playa, and maintaining it off playa. The Construction and destruction of the camp takes ALL of us.

  • Scotto's Daily Ice Run - The first priority is the community coolers - average of 15-20 Bags/Day - There may be leftover ice each day that will be given away to those who want it - (Scotto will gladly take $2/bag for ice DESIGNATED FOR YOU)

As I mentioned, PLEASE do not take any of this personally, it is not directed at anyone in particular as I have no idea who brought what food or who left what food.  I do hate those chairs with the footrests attached, I banged into them at least 10 times/day and the bruises are just now healing.

I cannot even begin to put into words how much PolyParadise means to me.  To be a part of a growing, thriving and ever expanding group of dynamic people from all over the globe.  I thank you for the opportunity to lead, to be the person who brings all the SHIAT.
